As you may already know, I’m a sucker for those magical words: “based on a true story”. No matter how many awful movies I see with that disclaimer, I will always flock to see the next one. So when I discovered new film The Hauning In Connecticut had those 5 little words, it immediately got my attention.

But what else is there to distinguish this film, other than the fact something kinda/sorta like the events shown happened at some point in time? So far – not much. True, it stars Virginia Madsen, who will always hold a special place in this horror fan’s memory for being involved with Candyman (that deep creepy voice still haunts my thoughts), but she hasn’t really shown up in anything memorable since.

Still, getting back to the horror genre may be good for Virginia, and the “based on a true story” already has me hooked…but I’ll still probably wait to see this one on DVD – unless the trailer (when it comes out) changes my mind.
