Disney’s A Christmas Carol (2009)

What do you get when you combine Robert Zemeckis’ new 3D motion-capture technology, a classic tale by Charles Dickens and Jim Carrey? Disney’s A Christmas Carol – and a sure-fired hit for all ages!

Sure, sometimes Jim Carrey can be a bit, well, creepy (Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2004)), but the chance to see him voice Scrooge – and all three ghosts (!) – in a visual presentation on a par with Polar Express (2004)? How can this not be good?

Toss in a dream cast of voice actors backing him up, including Gary Oldman, Cary Elwes, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright Penn and Colin Firth, and this one sounds like it’s destined to be a new holiday classic!

While it may seem a bit early to think about Christmas and the like now, during the height of summer, once the air starts getting a bit colder and (for your northern folks) those snowflakes start drifting lazily through the sky, chances are this will be the must-see film of the season.

Even though it’s been years since we’ve seen a holiday-themed movie in theaters, Disney’s A Christmas Carol looks good enough (at least on paper) that we may change our minds this holiday season.
