Synopsis:

When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom (Diesel) reignites his feud with Agent O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and O’Conner must give in to an uncertain trust if they hope to outmanuever him.

Our Thoughts:

And here we go again. For the fourth time, the brainless buffoons who swooned over the fast cars – and conveniently neglected to notice the horrific plot and lack of acting – are going to be lining up once more for Fast & Furious, speeding into theaters June 2009.

While it’s quite a patethic note for a series when bringing back Vin Diesel is supposed to get people psyched up for a new sequel, Fast & Furious actually – and I know I’m going to regret saying this – doesn’t look half bad.

That may be in part due to a decent trailer that starts off showing a rather impressive stunt sequence. Of course, the trailer than goes into the typical quick glimpses of action, girls and cars that have been the cornerstone of the attraction of most of the series, but showcasing that intense action-packed sequence right off the bat is a definite attention grabber. It gives viewers, hopefully, a taste of what they can expect from the film – almost an appetizer to stem viewers over until the movie hits town.

But, then again, this is re-teaming the undynamic acting duo of Diesel and Walker that helped maked me loathe the first film. Hopefully, now that they are in their 4th incarnation of the series, the filmmakers have learned that they need to add a decent plot and good acting performances into the mix, rather than just throwing fast cars and other eye candy at their audience.

Then again, maybe that’s asking too much from this team.

While the trailer has my interest peaked, I’m going to wait on seeing this one, probably until it hits DVD. Then again, if other The Fast And The Furious haters have good things to say about the film after it’s theatrical debut, I might venture into the cheap seats to check it out – albeit at a bargain price – on the big screen.

The fact I’m even thinking about seeing this one on the big screen is due entirely to the trailer. Let’s just hope the marketing is promoting a decent movie with the hype – instead of doing a good job covering up a bad one.

What’s your opinion? Will Fast & Furious be the best of the bunch, or is this going to be a case of same crap, different year?
