Our Thoughts:
Funny how things run in packs, don’t they? After just recently posting about Space Chimps (2008), I’m here to talk about another animated film, Igor, set to hit theaters this September.
This time, the animated journey focuses on not a couple of monkeys, but rather everyone’s favorite hunchbacked sidekick Igor (about time he got his own movie!). Voiced by John Cusack, his trials and tribulations bring him across characters voiced by John Cleese and Steve Buscemi. Other rumored voice actors include Jay Leno (yes, the late-night chin) and 80’s fave Arsenio Hall (!).
Sounds like a blast, right? True, Space Chimps (2008) has Patrick Warburton, but with Cleese, Buscemi and Cusack, plus cameos by both Leno and Arsenio, Igor actually sounds more exciting.
As an added bonus for Igor, the prospects for it’s theatrical run look a little better than those for Space Chimps (2008). After all, while Space Chimps (2008) has to deal with the after-effects of Wall-E, Igor has a pretty decent spot by itself in September. While the guys might still be hanging out in De Niro/Pacino’s Righteous Kill (2008), many families may find that Igor is the answer to their movie plans in September.
Let’s just hope the trailer does nothing to diminish the high hopes we’ve already got for this one.
