With Nicolas Cage, one never knows quite what to expect of him next. He seems to take on each new role with almost no inclination as to whether or not the film is going to be a movie worth watching or not. Sometimes it turns out better than expected (The Rock), sometimes it turns out rather bad (The Weather Man).
With his upcoming film Knowing, he’s not really taking on anything new (in fact, he’s following Jim Carrey of all people), as Knowing seems to be a combination of both Cage’s recent film Next (2007) and Carrey’s recent thriller Number 23 (2007).
While that description might cause a few people to lose hope (as neither did great box office business, that makes us intrigued. After all – despite their low box office receipts – we happened to like Number 23 (2007) a lot and we thought Next (2007) wasn’t half bad either.
So, will Nic be able to turn this character into something memorable – and make the numbers game seem interesting once more – or is this another flop for Cage?
While we’re hoping Knowing is going to be worth our while, we’ll probably wait for this one to hit DVD – unless the next trailer really wows us.
