Synopsis:

A troubled ex-cop (Sutherland) must save his family from an unspeakable evil that is using mirrors as gateways into their home. A remake of 2003’s Geoul sokeuro.

Our Thoughts:

With The Grudge 3 in seeming hiatus at the moment, fans of Asian remakes will have to settle for Kiefer Sutherland’s latest, Mirrors.

Coming out during the last month of the summer season bodes none too well for this much smaller film. While the summer blockbusters will be eaiting up most of the box office business, Mirrors will be probably only scraping up the overflow.

Especially since Kiefer Sutherland, whose TV show “24″ wasn’t on this past season, has been making more headlines about his run-ins with the law than any acting lately.

Still, that’s not to say that Mirrors looks bad. It doesn’t – but it doesn’t really look like something that’s going to set it apart from Grudge (2004) and other Asian film remakes.

While it probably won’t be in theaters long, it might get new life on DVD, and may turn out to be worth a rental. But paying the big bucks? Uh-huh – not with so many other choices out there.
