Synopsis:

Jess (Gellar) has her life torn apart when her husband, Ryan (Landes), and brother-in-law, Roman (Pace), crash in a horrific car accident. Both brothers end up in comas, with little hope of recovery. But Roman wakes up and insists he is her husband. Now Jess must decide if the spirit of her beloved husband has returned to her in the body of her brother-in-law, or if something much more sinister is at work. A remake of the 2002 South Korean film Jungdok.

Our Thoughts:

While the whole Sarah Michelle Gellar in the horror genre is getting a bit old (Grudge (2004), The Grudge 2, The Return), I’m actually looking forward to seeing her latest, Possession.

Sure, the plot looks interesting, but it’s been overdone already, so the whole body-switching thing probably isn’t going to give viewers anything new.

The biggest draw for this movie, however, is in it’s conglomeration of TV stars showing up in the film. Not only is ex-”Buffy” Sarah Michelle Gellar here, we’ve also got Lee Pace from the quirkily hilarious “Pushing Daisies” – and William B. Davis (”the Cigarette Smoking Man”) from “The X-Files”!

But will these familiar faces be worth watching in these new roles? Sarah Michelle Gellar has already proved she can carry a horror film, but how about Lee Pace and William B. Davis? Will we like Pace in an uglier role than the humble charmer we’re used to seeing? Can William B. Davis break out of his “CSM” role to deliver something different, but equally worthwhile?

Hopefully, both answers are “yes”, and Possession will be worth seeing…but just in case, we’re probably going to wait for the DVD.
