With a (mostly) positive first month of our Summer At The Movies 2009 behind us, we look ahead to what’s heading to our local multiplexes this June.
June
While we aren’t big fans of Will Ferrell, the lack of competition on June 05 leaves it a tie between cheesy TV show remake Land of the Lost (2009) and the riskier Hangover (unless we change our minds and go see the already released Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009))
While new Eddie Murphy comedy Imagine That (2009) looks cute, we’re not going to miss seeing baddie John Travolta go up against Denzel Washington on the big screen in the action-packed remake Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009) when it rams it’s way into theaters on June 12.
While Heather is trying to convince me to see the new Sandra Bullock romantic comedy Proposal (2009), the Jack Black/Michael Cera caveman team-up looks like it’s got loads more laughs – and fun for both sexes, so it probably won’t be too difficult to convince her to go see Year One (2009) instead when it stampedes into theaters June 19.
When a movie is as anticipated as this Autobots/Decepticons sequel, it’s almost silly for other films to be released on the same day. Maybe that’s why Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) is hitting theaters on Thursday, June 24 all by itself. And of course, we’ll be there that weekend – after all, who isn’t going to see this one in theaters?
