Plot: Ray Charles Robinson (Foxx) has been blind since the age of 7 – but he’s never let that stop him from accomplishing whatever he set out to do. Despite setbacks ranging from the death of a loved one to infidelity to eventual heroin addiction, Ray Charles led a life full of both misery and joy. Plot: After witnessing a stabbing, aspiring writer Paul (Arquette) rushes the injured man, David King (DMX), to the hospital. King dies at the hospital, and bequeaths all his possessions to Paul at the last minute – basically, his car and his jewelry – in return for being properly buried. After searching the car, Paul finds a Bible filled with cassettes – and discovers that King has been busy saving his life story on tape. He listens, hoping to discover what led King to his final night. Based on the novel by Donald Goines.
