Golden Globe Winners 2008

Although the Golden Globes ceremony was cancelled due to the Writer’s Guild Strike, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the names of the winners starting at 9pm EST, with NBC airing the names as they were announced. Here are the nominees…and the winners.


★★★½☆ Hoodwinked (2006)

Plot: Inspector Nicky Flippers (Stiers) has a mission: catch the goody thief who’s been stealing recipes and putting people – including The Muffin Man – out of business. His 4 suspects: Red (Hathaway), a goody delivery girl; Big Bad Wolf (Warburton), a reporter with a nose for news; Granny (Close), a goody maker that’s hiding a secret life and The Woodsman (Belushi), an actor with very little going on up top. But will Nicky find out the truth, or is the goody thief destined to make a sweet getaway?


★★★☆☆ Stepford Wives (2004)

Plot: Joanne (Kidman) is a successful hihg-powered network president – until a tragic mishap causes her to lose her job. Trying to rebuild their marriage, Joanne and her husband Walter (Broderick) decide to move to the country – to the nice town of Stepford. The longer Joanne stays, however, the more she begins to suspect something isn’t quite right with the women of Stepford…A remake of the 1975 film, based on the book by Ira Levin.

Plot: After his family is shipwrecked on an island, a baby is rescued from certain death by a gorilla named Kala (Close), who adopts him and names him Tarzan (Goldwyn). When people arrive on the island years later, he must decide where he truly belongs. Animated.


★★★★☆ Air Force One (1997)

Plot: Air Force One, the president’s airplane, has been hijacked. On board are President James Marshall (Ford), the First Lady (Crewson) and their daughter (Matthews). While Vice President Kathryn Bennett (Close) tries to deal with the terrorists’ demands at the White House, Marshall must do whatever he can to stop terrorist leader Ivan Korshunov (Oldman) on the plane.
