Golden Globe® Winners 2009

    Award Shows

Once again, the Hollywood Foreign Press hosted an extravaganza of glitz, glamor and celebrities in their yearly Golden Globes Awards Show. While Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up, Kate Winslet took home a pair of awards, Heath Ledger got his expected posthumous award and Mickey Rourke picked up his first award in years, showcasing once again that 2008 was the year of the comeback.

Plot: Welcome to Sin City, a town full of characters. Like Hartigan (Willis), the last honest cop in town, who races to save a young girl from a psychotic son of a sentator. Or Marv (Rourke), who is determined to find out who killed his “angel”, his Goldie (King) – no matter how many bodies he leaves in his wake. Or Dwight (Owen), who is determined to help the girls of Old Towne in their fight against the mob. Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel series of the same name.

Plot: John Creasy (Washington) is a man wandering. When his old army pal decides to set him up with a job as a bodyguard in Mexico City for a young girl named Lupita (Fanning), he goes along mainly because he has nothing better to do. Inevitably, the young girl breaks through the crusty exterior and once again gives Creasy something to live for. When she’s kidnapped, Creasy will do whatever it takes to exact his revenge on those responsible.

Rogue CIA Agent Sands (Depp) has a bold plan. He knows that the Mexican cartel, headed by Barillo (Dafoe), has sent General Marquez (Vigil) to affect a coup d’etat on the president of Mexico, and put Barillo in control of Mexico. Now, he’s got the mob after him for skipping town (and sleeping with the boss’ wife), and a whole conspiracy of people around him, including old pal Cyrus (Rourke) and computer geek Kinnear (Cumming). Everybody’s out to Get Carter…but everybody should look out, because Carter is out for revenge.
