Golden Globe Winners 2008
Although the Golden Globes ceremony was cancelled due to the Writer’s Guild Strike, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the names of the winners starting at 9pm EST, with NBC airing the names as they were announced. Here are the nominees…and the winners.




Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
Plot: Harold Crick (Ferrell), an IRS agent leading a very mundane existence, has his life changed forever when he begins hearing a mysterious voice narrating his life. With the help of Professor Hilbert (Hoffman), Harold discovers he’s the main character of a novel-in-progress and that the voice belongs to Karen Eiffel (Thompson), an author famous for killing her main characters.




Last Holiday (2006)
Plot: When an accident at work leads to a CAT scan – and the news that she only has 3 weeks to live – ultra-conservative Georgia (Latifah) decides to finally live out her dreams. As she does her best to enjoy her last few days, her long-time crush Sean (LL Cool J) tries to track her down.




Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006)
Plot: Manny (Romano), Sid (Leguizamo) and Diego (Leary) are back. By this point, the valley they live in has started to melt. When they learn their valley is about to flood, they team up to warn everyone. Now, as the flood looms closer, they must deal with a mammoth who thinks she’s a possum (Latifah) – not to mention a few nasty fish. Animated.




Beauty Shop (2005)
Plot: Gina (Latifah) is a hair stylist. After getting fed up with the way that shop owner Jorge (Bacon) treats her, she quits and decides to open her own shop. But, will Gina’s new shop be able to survive it’s opening, or will Gina have to go crawling back to her chair at Jorge’s?




Taxi (2004)
Plot: When New York Det. Washburn (Fallon) loses his license, he has to grab a taxi to chase a couple of bank robbers. Lucky for him, it’s not just any taxi – it’s Belle’s (Latifah) souped-up ride. Based on the 1998 European film by the same name written by Luc Besson.
