Yes, there is another horror film remake coming to theaters in 2010, but what did you expect? After the success of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and the reinvention that was Halloween (2007), (not to mention the new Hills Have Eyes (2006) and The Last House on the Left, among numerous others), Hollywood has jumped gung-ho on the horror remake bandwagon.
The latest remake is The Crazies, based on George A. Romero’s 1973 film. Since I have never seen the original, I don’t really know what to expect from this remake. And while it’s true I didn’t really like Timothy Olyphant’s take on the title character in the recent Hitman (2007), seeing him go a little insane sounds to me like it would be fun to see.
So, will this remake be able to stand out from the crowd? Who knows? Since I liked another remake of a George A. Romero film (Dawn Of The Dead (2004)) and crazy people are always good for a scare, I have high hopes for The Crazies.
But even if it sucks, at least the poster is pretty cool, right?
