While neither Heather or I are big fans of Gervais’ import on TV (“The Office”), he has turned in some wonderfully comic performances in films (most recently Ghost Town (2008)).
Now he’s bringing another comedy to the big screen, this one entitled The Invention of Lying. The premise may be a bit far-fetched and fantastical (basically about a man who invents lying in an alternate reality), even the preview is chock full of some good bits that make this one seem like it’s going to be a riot.
Toss in an odd mix of both serious and comedic actors with Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jeffrey Tambor, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe and Tina Fey, and this one seems like it’s going to be a must-see – at least on DVD.
While Gervais is a fun offbeat leading man, will the joke of this film be able to encompass the whole hour and a half or so of film time, or will the funny start wearing thin early? Or is that only part of what this film really is all about? Guess we’ll find out for ourselves when this one hits DVD.
