Synopsis:

A romantically challenged woman (Heigl) seeks advice from an uncouth relationship expert (Butler) only to fall in love with her therapist.

Our Thoughts:

Katherine Heigl is back on the big screen next July for yet another romantic comedy, this one titled The Ugly Truth.

In this one, she’s being paired up with Gerard Butler, a big guy hero since his outstanding performance in 300 (2007). So will guys flock to this one like they did to the Seth Rogen co-starrer Knocked Up? Probably not.

While guy’s like seeing Gerard kick some butt on-screen, him and Katherine Heigl don’t seem like they would be an interesting pair to watch on-screen. Gerard probably took this one for the paycheck, and it seems to show through even in the preview.

With Rogen co-starring with Heigl, it seemed like it gave even the nerdy ugly guys a chance with Katherine, so that got a lot of guys to go see the film.

Plus, Katherine’s got a bit of a bad rep these days, after throwing away her fanbase (and upsetting the writers) by saying she wasn’t getting any good scenes on “Grey’s Anatomy”. Now, she’s apparently involved in a physical love affair with a ghost that’s bound to end with some sort of question as to her mental state.

Needless to say, guys aren’t interested in checking out the latest man-bashing chick flick, and Heigl isn’t exactly a draw for most of them. Having Gerard in the picture only makes it worse, since most guys will think he’s selling himself short for joining in on this, even if it is all about the paycheck.

Mostl likely, The Ugly Truth will turn into a DVD rental for couples, and zip through theaters rather quickly.

While Heather will probably end up renting this one once it hits DVD, I’m so uninterested in it I’ll probably skip it then too.
