After 4 years of people waiting for Sex And The City to come out as a movie, it has finally happened. The previews don’t look half bad, considering I was never a fan of the TV show that ran from ’98 – ’04 – although I did watch a couple late night showings after the show was cancelled.
So, a couple of my girl friends from school invited me to go with them to see Sex And The City as a girls night out (ironically, it was four of us). Let me just tell you though…talk about estrogen overload! Qe settled in to the theater (there were maybe 5 guys there), and watched what hopefully was not going to be a disappointment.
All the characters remained the same. It’s amazing that they got all the girls back to actually make the film, since they all hate each other. Now I am going to admit that I do not emphasize on the actors in movies as I’m really not paying attention to what they have previously worked on to make my determination on whether the film was good or not. But, I feel that every one of the girls, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon all do great jobs in their roles.
Sarah Jessica Parker as the ever talented writer Carrie Bradshaw: she’s smart, sexy and looks good in everything. Kim Cattrall as the older piranha: she looks dang good for 49. Kristen Davis, ah yes, the perky Mrs. Perfect, plays the part well. And last but not least, Cynthia Nixon, the hard working almost reality based wife and mom. They all have their special talents and are all believable to an extent.
Well, on to the plot. As I have previously stated, I’m not a fan, but I did get to know a little about the show as I watched some of the late night repeats. Mr. Big and Carrie, It was obvious where this one was heading, hello….dating off and on for 10 years…I hear wedding bells. Whether it happens or not you’ll have to wait and see, you may be surprised.
It has everything a girls’ night out could ask for: comedy, drama, sex and much more.
While I was a mild disbeliever in all the hype, I am very happy that I went and saw the film. It was awesome. Now I have to convince Reid that I need the entire series, so I can catch up on what I missed!
Go and see Sex And The City today. Ladies, get the girls together and make a night of it. In Orlando, there was even a bar next to the theater where it was $5 Cosmopolitans to celebrate the movie!
